The 1869 quarter eagle is one of the lowest struck circulation strike coins produced at the Philadelphia Mint with a mintage of only 4320 coins. As you would expect it is a very scarce issue with no example graded better than Mint State 64. Nearly every example we have handled has partial to full prooflike surfaces. Our MS61 example is so proof like , it could easily be mistaken for a fully proof struck coin. It is also the finest example we have offered to date. A true rarity.
