American Silver Eagles

The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States, first issued in 1986 by the U.S. Mint. Struck from one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver, it has become one of the most recognized and trusted silver coins globally. Although it carries a nominal face value of $1, its market value is based on the current spot price of silver, plus a premium.

The obverse of the coin features Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic “Walking Liberty” design, symbolizing freedom and optimism. The reverse design originally displayed a heraldic eagle by John Mercanti (1986–2021), but in mid-2021, it was updated to feature a more naturalistic eagle landing, designed by Emily Damstra.

Silver American Eagles are available in several versions: bullion for investors, proof for collectors, and burnished (uncirculated) for numismatic enthusiasts. Special editions, such as anniversary or reverse proof sets, are also released periodically.

These coins are not only popular among investors for their silver content and IRA eligibility, but also prized by collectors for their beauty, historical design, and annual mint variations. Whether for wealth preservation or numismatic enjoyment, the American Silver Eagle remains a staple in the world of precious metals.
